An Taoiseach Brian Cowen TD shares a joke with U.S. President Barack Obama in the White House on St. Patricks Day. Both leaders met for the first time were they discussed world economic issues as well as both being from Offaly!!
In response to resident concerns about crime in the area, local Councillor, Cormac Devlin organised a Neighbourhood Watch Programme for Sallynoggin. The meeting was a huge success with over 60 residents attending. As a result a large new committee was formed to work with the Gardaí on these and other matters.

Cllr. Cormac Devlin is pictured supporting volunteers of the Niall Mellon Township Trust at the Festival of World Culture in Dún Laoghaire in late August. The shack was home to a family of 3 for 10 years in South Africa. The Niall Mellon Township Trust sends skilled Irish volunteers over to build better homes for people living in townships. Ruth Hearns (pictured here with her family) has been volunteering for the past number of years and is setting off once again this November.
