DEVLIN SELECTED BY FIANNA FÁIL
TO RUN IN DÚN LAOGHAIRE

Cormac Devlin was selected by the members of Dún Laoghaire Fianna Fáil to contest the forthcoming local elections in the Dún Laoghaire Local Electoral Area.

The Selection Convention which was held in the Court Hotel, Killiney and was attended by Minister Mary Hanafin T.D., Barry Andrews T.D. and Eoin Ryan T.D. also selected Mr. Brendan Kiely and Mr. Larry Lohan to run along side Mr. Devlin.

In his address to the assembled delegates Mr.Devlin said that it was a credit to the local organisation and the members that they had welcomed, worked with and encouraged youth participation within the Party. He said that he hoped he would be able to “motivate and interest more people (particularly young people) into politics, in their local area and their local environment. He said there were many pending issues that the council needed to tackle and these ranged from “health, housing, better environmental services offered to householders and businesses, child care and youth facilities for all people of our County”.

Mr.Devlin said that members of the local organisation thanked out going Cllr.Betty Coffey for her “tireless efforts on behalf of the Party over the last 16 years of service she has given to the organisation and her local community”.

Mr. Devlin (23) has been a member of the Fianna Fáil organisation for over 6 years, has grown up in Glenageary and was educated locally at the Harold Boys’ National School, Dalkey and the Presentation College in Glasthule.

He is currently a member of the Dún Laoghaire Vocational Education Committee (VEC), a delegate for Fianna Fáil to the National Youth Council of Ireland, Honorary Secretary and PRO of the Dún Laoghaire Town FC and also represents the club on the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Community Forum.
