Local Councillor for the area, Cormac Devlin has warmly welcomed the funding by the Government of €15,000 for the proposed Youth Café in the new Meadowlands Community Centre.

The new Community Centre which cost €4 million to design and build and will provide much needed facilities and services to the local community. It has now received additional funding for the purchase of brand new equipment and resources for a Youth Café. "This Youth Café is in direct response to the young peoples own desire to have a place to "hang out" in rather than being accused and hassled for causing disturbances/nuisances within estates. We need more of these type of facilities all across the country to ensure that all teenagers have a safe and supervised place to relax in. Having toured this new community centre, I am very pleased with the use of space and its purpose built rooms. I've no doubt that it will be a magnet for all types of local community based groups to come and use" stated Cllr. Devlin.

Any interested groups/individuals that would like to view/tour this facility should contact Mr. Kevin Reid (Area Community Officer) in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council on 2054700 or by email to get more information.
