FIRST NATIONAL INFORMATION
WEBSITE ON DOMESTIC &
SEXUAL VIOLENCE LAUNCHED
Dublin based Councillor, Cormac Devlin (FF) has welcomed the first complete listing of an All-Agency Information Website on Domestic & Sexual Violence against both, men & women. The website was launched by the National Office for the Prevention of Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence. The site is aimed not just at victims of these forms of violence, but also at the general public who may be concerned about a friend, neighbour or work colleague, who they know or suspect may be a victim of such violence.
“Far too often domestic and sexual violence goes un-noticed and/or un-reported. This website is designed to assist those who want/need support and help, to access it in a confidential manner. It is particularly welcome that the website addresses violence against both sexes as this type of violence is often never discussed. I welcome this one-stop shop for information and hope that it proves useful for those in need of such crucial information” said Cllr. Devlin.
“The website is www.cosc.ie and provides practical support to victims, their family and friends by allowing them to quickly identify the services available in their local area. Anyone who requires more information should make contact with an expert, working in any of the frontline services (listed on the website).” according to Councillor Devlin.
Speaking on the popular Crimecall TV programme, the Executive Director, Éimear Fisher urged “those who know or suspect someone they know is in an abusive relationship to visit www.cosc.ie to find out how they can help”.
